- The Association of Exporters (ADEX) today reported that the representatives of port workers has formed an alliance to work together for the competitiveness of ports peruanos.Destacó the first fruit of this alliance is the suspension of 48-hour strike they planned to make the servers ports on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, which has been pared losses for Peruvian exports by $ 140 million.
He recalled that last week dock workers gathered at a general meeting which decided to make a strike for 25 and 26 November, prompting the president of Adex, Jose Luis Silva, meet with union leaders to discuss avoided.
"When the port for a day are only $ 70 million is left to export, also lost credibility with our clients abroad and is additionally affecting thousands of workers in the fields and factories," he said.
The first meeting was held last Saturday and it was agreed to defend the modernization of ports, support strict enforcement of labor standards and the efforts being undertaken by ground transportation companies to achieve load amending section 111 of the Rules of the Customs Act that prevents the cargo owners to choose their carrier.
It was also agreed that Adex and port workers installed a dialogue and the goal is that it has the presence of Minister of Transport and Communications, Enrique Cornejo, and other authorities in the sector.
In that space of dialogue will explain what the situation of foreign trade, the port system and what are the proposals to improve and, thus, face the future more competitive.
In today's meeting attended in addition to Silva, the national general secretary of the Workers National Port Company (Fentenapu), Gustavo Gutierrez and Secretary General Workers Union National Port Company (Sitenapu) - Callao Augusto Chavez.
The secretary general of the Maritime Workers union branch and the Port of Callao Port (Sutramporc), Wilmer Estevez, Secretary General of Unete - Callao, Victor Marquina, and Secretary General Workers Union Terminal Company Callao NPA (Sitratep), Raul Mena.
