Metalworking exports grew 8% between January and September

- Exports of metalworking subsector grew eight per cent between January and September this year, adding 249 million 208 thousand U.S. dollars, being the main destination of the Chilean market, today reported Exporters Association (Adex). But in the last four months have presented a contraction, so there is an expectation that if the financial crisis will push to finish the year in red.
The main export items were mechanical devices with shipments 128 million 582 thousand U.S. dollars and appliances for 53 million 424 thousand U.S. dollars.
Major export destinations include Chile metalworking with 43 million 858 thousand U.S. dollars, Venezuela with 39 millions 803 thousand U.S. with 36 million 339 thousand and Ecuador with 26 million 529 thousand.
Other destinations are Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, while new markets for the period January to September last year are Qatar, Madagascar, Egypt, Nigeria and the Virgin Islands.
The four major markets: Chile, Venezuela, Ecuador and the United States, accounted for 58.8 percent of the total.
The main companies in this subsector are Peruvian Metallurgical, Petro-Tech Peruana, Indeco Andean Diesel Engines, Casting Callao and Ferreyros.
